Freckles the Bunny Series, Book # 4: Freckles and the True Meaning of Christmas retires on the 10th of this month. It will not be returning online with it's new ISBN until after the 15th. This is your last chance to get 1st editions.

Hi! I know I was supposed to post pictures of the two foster cats that we took in for the holiday. Between last minute Christmas shopping and a death in the family, I just never got around to it. Here are the pictures of the two cuties available for adoption at the Humboldt & District SPCA.

One Freckles website update:
We have also removed Erika-Elizabeth's Blog page. She is getting older and would prefer to not have it on any longer to keep some of her privacy. You can still follow "Craft Time with Erika-Elizabeth."

Author Update:
I am in the works of writing a new children's book entitled, "Through the Eyes of a Bunny." It will be less cartoon like then the other stories as it is meant to be seen with understanding and reality. The book will follow a rabbit's life through being bought at a pet shop to ending up in a shelter, to it's final home. I am hoping to not only teach children and parents about rabbits so that they think before buying but also teach them about the right way to care for them. Sadly, rabbits are often a discarded pet. I hope the book will be out for the New Year however I will be working out some of the details once the book is complete. I hope to have some news to share with you before the year is out.

Freckles Update:
Freckles' book should be coming out within a month or two. We've had to span them out due to Anastasia's schedule and my family moving back into our home. We plan to try and keep the books roughly 4 months apart as before. It will all depend on how long some of these are.

Sherlock Update:
I am still planning on having a second book out early this year (at least I plan to try). It will definitely be out before the end of this year. Please keep checking his blog or Facebook page for updates.

We are very excited this year! New and exciting things have been happening here! Why?
1. We are constantly improving the books, new topics and learning so much along the way!

We've learned more about some of the animals and new ones.
We have a bullying book coming out this year (Summer 2014).
Crafts are now in every 2nd edition book for book 1 and 2.
New morals.
A new craft blog for you and your child to follow from the books.
Morals and ISBN's are now beside each book online for additional info.
We are still working on the e-books but have 2 online now!
Sherlock has a Youtube Channel but we are still adding more videos for you!

2. This year, we will be helping some rescue groups by placing their adoptable pets in our stories as background characters.

3. We have a new series out which is getting a lot of attention. Be sure to check out Sherlock the Remarkable Cat Series' website and Facebook fan page.

4. We are on a roll for winning awards for reviews (every book has earned a 5 star!) and now we have the opportunity to win "2014 Best Book Cover Contest."

I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year (if you celebrate)! New things in the works for this year!

1. Sherlock the Remarkable Cat Series, Book # 1: Sherlock, the Cat Who Couldn't Meow
Sherlock's book is complete and just waiting for editing and a cover. It should be out by the end of the month. Sherlock the Remarkable Cat Series, #chapter #Book # 1: #Sherlock, the #Cat Who Couldn't #Meow.

2. A New Domain
He is far more popular then expected and seems to be drawing quite a bit of interest for himself. Due to this, we've made a website for him and bought a domain. You can find it below.

3. Freckles the Bunny Series, Book # 5: Freckles and the Cost of Popularity
We've already begun putting together Freckles The Bunny Series, Book #5: #Freckles and the Cost of #Popularity. It should be out around the end of February. A preview will be out for this at a later time.

4. Humboldt & District SPCA
We've added Petfinder #Pet of the Month for the Humboldt SPCA onto our sites. As many know, $1/book from all Createspace (an Amazon company, therefore Amazon checkouts) sales from Freckles books goes to them. This will be the same for Sherlock's.

New Year and New Stuff

It has been a very busy time for us here between Christmas and a new book series. I'm afraid that it's been too busy to post. I am late in saying this but to all those that celebrate, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Christmas went well for us though we are still not back in our home. We were with family though and together so one could not ask for more. Now for some updates on what I have been busy with:

1. Sherlock the Remarkable Cat Series

I finished writing his first book last night. The book is titled, "Sherlock, the Cat Who Couldn't Meow" and it is the first in the series. It is in need of editing and a cover but the plan is still to have it published and on Amazon by the end of this month. Once the cover is complete, I will be sure to post it online.
Sherlock has been racking in fans! Between the interest and Freckles' website being so full of stuff, a site was created for him. http://sherlock-the-remarkable-cat.weebly.com/
Sherlock's series is a chapter book series which means no illustrations. The page count before edits is 73 written pages. The book's estimated sales price will be $8. All of this could change yet.
There is still a preview on Sherlock's website (before it was on Freckles' site but on sherlock's page. His page no longer exists). It is unedited and some stuff has been added but be sure to check it out! The first two chapters are included.
We will be offering school readings for this as well though I have yet to determine how to present it yet.

2. The Author's Website

The website has been changed a bit as I've added new page choices above. The choices now include direct links to both series websites. This required a total makeover.
While the website's domain name will stay as it is, the cover title is now listed as Vickianne and Anastasia's to keep from confusing Anastasia's stuff with mine. I would like to make sure that her art is seen and this seemed like a great way to get people to notice her and realize that the work is hers and not mine.
Photos and Videos have all been placed onto one page instead of two on that website.

3. Book Reviews

It seems that I have little to no time to do reviews for other authors anymore. At least not for chapter books. My daughter has offered to take on this role and has been doing a great job of it. While some of it is slow, she is far faster at this then I am with lack of time. She has already done two reviews on her own (videos still need to be done) and has had compliments on them. Great job!

4. Freckles the Bunny Series

Freckles is now on her 5th book this year! This book should be out near the end of February. The book is entitled, "Freckles and the Cost of Popularity." Learn more about it by visiting her website. A video preview should be out sometime later this month.

5. All Websites

There was a glitch with the Pinterest link on the websites that I hadn't been aware of. These are fixed now! You can find us here: http://www.pinterest.com/frecklesbunECRZ/
Freckles and Sherlock's sites link to each other and my personal one will take you to both. I have not included a link back from the series sites to my personal author's website.

6. E-Books

I have not yet added anymore books on Smashwords (nor updated) as I am currently waiting for my husband to read the contracts for putting them on Kindle. I will bring you news at a later date to let you know if the e-books go on Amazon or if I add more onto Smashwords, or both.

Weekend News

Vickianne Caswell has now signed up for a website called AuthorsdB. It lists some of her links and books. I am still learning how this site works, so additions may be slow.

The photo package that we donated to the Humboldt & District SPCA's online auction is already at $30! The people that had their pet put into the Christmas book were very happy, which makes us happy! These were done courtesy of Anastasia and myself.

Anastasia came up with the idea of helping rescued animals in need of homes, by listing them and drawing them in. We are both looking forward to doing this! If you are a rescue and would like to have your animals that are hard to adopt in our book, please contact us! While we charge for pets, rescues we will be doing for free.

Two reviews are already in and they are great for book 4! Be sure to check them out on the website!

An Exciting Week!

It's been a very exciting week! Here's what's new:

1. It looks like we will be reading at another school here in Saskatoon, SK.
2. Sherlock's new character look for the book is in the works.

3. His fan page is up on Facebook already (a little premature but Facebook wouldn't let me edit some stuff at a later date).

4. The first order of Christmas books sold out and another order should be in this week!

5. I submitted the Christmas book for review and it came back in 2 days (supposed to take up to 3 months but they keep coming in quicker each time!)!! I got another 5 star review award from Readers' Favorite. That is 4 for 4!!

6. Just a reminder, we still have Freckles Christmas photos for sale! Order them now so that you receive them on time for Christmas!

Sherlock Series Updates

Second Chapter Sneak Peek
Sherlock the Remarkable Cat Series, Book # 1: Sherlock, the Cat Who Couldn't Meow has a second chapter added to the first. Be sure to check it out! We've also figured out the cover and I am SO EXCITED about it! I can't wait for you all to see it! Please remember that this is a draft and more may be added so it hasn't been edited yet. Again, you can find the downloadable pdf at the bottom of his page, on the Freckles website.

Uniqueness of Series Book Covers
Some of you may not have noticed but Freckles the Bunny Series has a theme going on with the covers. Every book title is always in the form of a sign or on something (Ex. Book 1 was a sign on the door & book 3 was ice on the window). Sherlock now has his own theme as well! On every cover, you will see a photo of the real Sherlock inside of the illustrated one. Sherlock's appearance is going to change slightly as well. In the Freckles books, the characters are more flat. In his series, they will be more rounded and standing out more. Anastasia will be illustrating the first book in the series as well and we hope to keep her on longer.

Craft Time with Erika-Elizabeth page

We've started a craft series called "Craft Time with Erika-Elizabeth." It is found on Youtube (our channel) and our website. Erika-Elizabeth will be making crafts that your child can make along with her. We're at a slow start here but we will be adding more videos soon!

Erika-Elizabeth's Blog

Erika-Elizabeth has also started her own parent-approved blog. She wants to share some of her experiences as part of the Freckles team, as well as her experiences in bullying, etc. We felt that since she would be part of writing one on bullying, that other children may want to hear about her experiences.

Extended School Visits Date

Due to the fact that we still don't know when we will be returning, we have decided to extend our stay until December. If you know of a school interested in a free story reading, please have them contact me!

Wonderful Visit at St. Philip School

We had a wonderful time at St. Philip School here in Saskatoon and they were very kind to us! We enjoyed reading to them, speaking with everyone and especially enjoyed the questions that many of you asked!

Website Overhaul

I have now hidden almost every page except the main ones. A few were re-named (ex. the News blog is now "News Blog" instead of "News"). I have also replaced the Paypal buttons so that there are some better S&H prices, especially for books. I've also fixed it up so that you can purchase a t-shirt size easier and purchase services (you had to contact me before). This also enabled me to add some package deals. If you take a look around, you will also find a few price drops. One of them is the Pets in the Book package and the Child's Photo with the Freckles Character. Both make great Christmas presents!

A couple Changes and Something New

Hope everyone is well!

First off, the changes:
1. Freckles the Bunny Series, Book # 4: Freckles and the True Meaning of Christmas has gone up in price due to the cost of producing them going up $1.50. The books are now $11.50 USD online and $11.50 CAD. There are still 2 days to pre-order. If you do within that time, we will keep the $10 price along with your free sticker sheet or Freckles pencil.

2. Freckles the Bunny Series, Book # 5: Freckles and the Popular Persuasion has changed titles to Freckles and the Cost of Popularity. Book order after is yet to be determined.

The new:
We've added a special tab on the page (where you see page likes, photos, etc.). It is a page that lists all of the books I have written and a direct link to Amazon or the "other" which links you directly to our website where you can purchase signed books from me or use the Createspace links to have $1/book donated to the Humboldt & District SPCA (a no-kill, non-government funded organization. The lady in charge devotes a great deal of home time too, caring for these animals).
